BadgeNotify

Privacy Policy

How BadgeNotify and BadgeScout handle website data, local preferences, support requests, and extension settings.

Overview

This policy covers two related products operated together:

  • BadgeNotify — the public website and related web services at badgenotify.com that track Twitch badge campaigns.
  • BadgeScout — the browser extension that shows active and upcoming badge campaigns, claim details, local tracking, and reminders in a browser popup.

You can browse BadgeNotify without creating an account. Badge notifications are offered through BadgeScout and our Discord community, not through a public account-based alert center on this website.

1. BadgeNotify website and web services

Data processed when visiting the website

When you load BadgeNotify pages, our hosting provider (Vercel) may process:

  • IP address
  • browser/user agent
  • requested URL
  • timestamp
  • basic server logs
  • technical error logs

Purpose: site delivery, security, abuse prevention, debugging, reliability.

Local browser preferences

BadgeNotify may store limited UI preferences in your browser using localStorage or sessionStorage. This can include muted or hidden badges and similar on-device display settings. This data stays on your device and is not tied to a website account.

Support and feedback

If you use our feedback form, you may optionally provide contact details such as name, email, Twitch username, or Discord username, along with your message. Do not send passwords, private tokens, or other sensitive personal information.

Twitch embeds and badge data

The website displays public Twitch badge campaign information and may embed or link to Twitch streams and channels. When you interact with Twitch content, Twitch's privacy policy applies. BadgeNotify is not affiliated with Twitch.

Analytics

BadgeNotify does not currently use third-party analytics unless configured and disclosed here.

Cookies / local storage

BadgeNotify uses technically necessary local storage for on-device UI preferences. Optional analytics storage will only be used where configured and disclosed above. BadgeNotify does not set marketing or advertising cookies on the public website.

2. BadgeScout browser extension

BadgeScout is available on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons. The extension does not require a Twitch login or a BadgeScout account.

  • Local settings. Tracking, mute, claimed, hidden, reminder, and quiet-hours preferences are stored locally in your browser using the extension storage permission.
  • Local cache and watchtime estimates. The extension may keep a local cache of campaign data and on-device watchtime estimates to power reminders and the popup UI. These stay on your device.
  • Browser permissions. BadgeScout requests storage, notifications, and alarms. It uses notifications for badge alerts and alarms for scheduled reminder and countdown checks.
  • Public campaign API. The extension fetches public campaign and category data from https://api.badgenotify.com (host permission limited to the extension API paths). Those requests may generate ordinary server request metadata such as IP address, user agent, and timestamp for delivery, security, and abuse prevention.
  • What BadgeScout does not access. Based on the current extension package, BadgeScout does not use content scripts and does not request permission to read browsing history, open tabs, cookies, or page contents.
  • Deleting local extension data. You can clear BadgeScout's local data through your browser's extension or site-data controls, or by removing the extension.
  • External stores. Distribution through the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons is also governed by those stores' own privacy policies. Listing in a store does not mean Mozilla or Google endorse BadgeScout.

More product-specific detail for the BadgeScout marketing site is also available at badgescout.app/privacy.

Discord and other external links

BadgeNotify links to external services including Twitch, Discord, Firefox Add-ons, TikTok, Instagram, and X. Notifications through Discord or a browser store are handled by those services under their own privacy policies and permissions. BadgeNotify does not control data processing on those platforms.

Legal bases

  • legitimate interest for secure website and API delivery and abuse prevention
  • consent for optional analytics, where enabled
  • consent or legitimate interest for support requests you choose to send

Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and reliability. Local preference and extension data remain in your browser until you clear them. Support messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

  • access
  • rectification
